I believe that experiencing a destination is much more enriching than just visiting it. When I visit a destination, I search for the qualities that best express the essence of the local culture. In my new series Italy Travel & More Beginners Guides, I share discoveries I have made while travelling in Italy; some of which have been overlooked by other travel guide book authors. About the Italy Travel & More Beginners Guides Series
I’m Celia Abernethy, teacher, translator and travel writer living in Italy. After years as living as an outsider in this beautiful yet complex culture, I have learned to experience Italy as it is; the good, the bad, the beautiful and the extraordinary. The churches and artistic masterpieces are treasures not to be missed,
but Italy is so much more.
My advice to first-time Italy travelers is:
Don’t try to do everything. Take your time and see and do what you can,
relax and enjoy the atmosphere. Whether it be calm or chaotic, make the most of it. Look for beauty in the unexpected;
you may find it just by wandering around without a plan.
With all the information available out there, it is hard to decide what to see and do in the limited time-frame a vacation may afford. That’s why I have created the
Italy Travel & More Beginners Guides. Here you will find essential descriptions of the discoveries I have made while travelling in Italy; some of which have been overlooked by other travel guide book authors.
This guide is in no way a complete list of things to see and do, but I hope the suggestions will enrich your visit and make it memorable.
